Paediatric treatments
Children often respond beautifully to East Asian medicine. Treatments are gentle, engaging, and tailored to your child’s age and temperament. Sessions may include acupressure, shonishin (a non-needling Japanese paediatric technique), light bodywork, paediatric massage, and simple herbal or dietary recommendations. Needles, if used at all, are minimal and very quick. Consent from the child is respected and upheld throughout treatment.
Paediatric treatments may support:
Bedwetting
Reflux and gastrointestinal conditions
Sleep issues
Growing pains
Recurrent colds & lowered immunity
Asthma and chronic cough
Anxiety and mental health
Puberty and developmental support
Support with neurodiversity, ADHD, ASD.
Eczema and skin conditions
What to expect
The first session begins with a conversation about your child’s health, routines, temperament, and any recent changes. Case by case, this may occur with or without the child in the room.
Treatments are dynamic and responsive to how your child is feeling on the day. I can shift easily between acupressure, shonishin, light bodywork, play-based techniques, or brief needling if appropriate.
Needles, when used, are minimal and only ever done with clear consent from both the parent and the child.
Sessions are calm, and paced to maintain comfort and trust. The duration depends on childs age and needs. There is space for parents to ask questions, however the focus throughout is on the child and their treatment. For anything the parent would like to discuss without the child present, we can check in via email or phone call anytime during the treatment plan.
After a session, you’ll leave with practical guidance and simple steps you can use at home to continue supporting your child between visits.
For children that need a bit more assurance, I can make time to meet them, and show them the treatment space prior to their session. This often helps with confidence and supports the child to relax into their treatments.
